Lady golfer, I tried to register to volunteer as a fore caddie and the option is locked. I guess that means all the volunteer positions are filled. What to do now? I'm amazed that spectators are not allowed at a GG9 event. And very disappointed.

Hi from Ottawa, is registration closed, or are there still spot's available? Thank you!

1) Will the driving range and practice putting greens be available prior to the 8am shotgun start on Monday and Tuesday? 2) Will the driving range and practice putting greens be available during the afternoon on Monday and Tuesday (after the rounds)? 3) Will the locker rooms and shower facilties be made avaailable to participants? 4) Which course do we play on Monday? Which course do we play on Tuesday? 5) Are GPS Rangefinders / yardage devices allowed ? 6) In case of any rulings question/issue, will participants have access to on-site tournament officials, or will participants be instructed to play a provisional ball and approach tournament officials after the round to obtain a formal ruling? Thanks!

So according to the "spectator" solution described above, my friends who have taken vacation days to see me play would need to sign up as a volunteer and request to be placed as a "fore caddie"? Then those people could either be placed at a specific hole as described in the fore caddie information or could follow along with the golfers as long as they don't offer advice and walk. Is that correct?

Please clarify whether or not spectators are allowed. What about for the medal ceremony?

I sent these questions to the golf coordinator. As for medal ceremonies- these are taking place at Festival Village and are open/free to all. Please check the event schedule on the GG9 website for more details.

I apologize- the coordinators are still figuring out the spectator situation. Please stay posted, bear with me. Answers to your other questions:
2. Will the driving range and practice putting greens be available prior to the 8am shotgun start on Monday and Tuesday?
Yes, it will open at 7:00am
3. Will the driving range and practice putting greens be available during the afternoon on Monday and Tuesday (after the rounds)? I will have to ask Firestone, but I will assume they will say no - they have not been the easiest to work with.
4. Will the locker rooms and shower facilties be made avaailable to participants? I know thy have locker rooms with showers, I am not aware of any reason they can not be used.
5. Which course do we play on Monday? Which course do we play on Tuesday? The final pairing with course and hole assignments will be e-mailed on Sunday
6. Are GPS Rangefinders / yardage devices allowed ? YES, they can not give you elevation or wind… which most golf GPS don’t do.
7. In case of any rulings question/issue, will participants have access to on-site tournament officials, or will participants be instructed to play a provisional ball and approach tournament officials after the round to obtain a formal ruling? We are working on finding a replacement Rules official, but in the absence of one on the course we will proceed under rule 3.3 and play a second ball.

Response for 1st question regarding spectators: Go to the course. In order to register more volunteers we'd have to open it for all sports and we cannot do that. They should show up and understand that they will be volunteers. All volunteers will need to sign a waiver if they didn't sign it online. They may or may not get a t-shirt because it's late in the game.
