Hi, I've read the answers already supplied to GLRF and have a further question. The Gay Games website says there will be events for 1x, 2x, 2-, 4x, 4+ and 8+. However in the answers to GLRF it says that only 8+, 4+ and possibly 1x's will be available to hire. Doesn't this mean that participating in events in other boat categories will be impossible for anyone outside of North America (i.e. those who are unable to trail their own boats to the regatta). Do you have any advice?
Thanks
Chris

The event specific fee for Rowing ($105) is to be made by each participant.

We are in the process of finding the correct answer to your question and will be sure to post it here as well as our website (www.gg9cle.com) once it is available.

We are working on obtaining shells for participants to rent. Once available this information will be placed on our website for everyone to view and make arrangements.

Is there an age requirement? IF so, will there be mixed age events?

The only age requirement for any event in the Gay Games is that you have to be 18 years old. There will be an mixed age division. More information about the event can be found on the Rowing page of our website (www.gg9cle.com/participate/sports/rowing).

Signing up for mixed double

I am trying to register for rowing for GG9. My father and I would like to row a mixed double (sculling), and according to the website, our correct age group would be "the average age of rowers in the crew, rounded down to the nearest whole number." My father is 62, and I am 23, so our average age should be 42, putting us in the 40-49 mixed double sculls. Unfortunately on the website I am only able to register for the 18-29 year-old sub-event, and he is only able to register for the 60-69 sub-event. How can we register? I have already paid for both of us to compete at one of the local Cleveland GG9 sign-up parties, with the understanding that we would be able to row together.

My team has a female rowing who plans to row in a "male" 8 with seven guys. However, she is unable to register for our "male" boat. How can she proceed?

Thank you for the question Alex. We are following the USRowing rules which require that mixed boats be composed of 50% men and 50% women for any given lineup. The 2014 Gay Games Regatta permits mixed boats to contain more than 50% of any lineup as women. However, every mixed boat must contain at least one (1) man.
Look forward to seeing you on the water!
