If you have a general question about Bowling, please post the question here. I'm having problems adding myself to my own teams I've created. My average is 193 (last year 188), but I created a division A team as my teammates averages range from 193 to over 200. (the same applies to my doubles team)
Do ALL team members have to average over 200 to add to a division A team/doubles?

Hello GGINFO, I have a few questions about What averages should be used for the GG Bowling competition. You may be eventually posting something more specific on the GG website but I would like to know. On the GG Website for the sport of bowling (Bowling) it states to compete in the League Division : I am a bowler from the USA and I have a history of USBC average which is listed on Bowl.com and I also have some tournament scores , If I have multiple averages from multiple leagues each with 21 games do I use the highest of any with more that 21 games or my composite league average for league games bowled(eg total pins for all games bowled/number of games) in that year which is listed on bowl.com , or I have to use the highest single average with 21 games, or a composite of all the averages that I have 21 games for? I have a league average for 2012-2013 and one for 2010-2011 as I didn't have an average for 2011-2012 as I did have 21 games, does that count as 2 years worth of averages even if a year is skipped as it is my last 2 yrs with 21 games of more in league? If you have a league season that runs from 2012-2013 and you had 21 or more league games in 2012, and you had 21 or more in 2013, does that COUNT as 2 years averages even though it is the one league season? Now if you have the 2 yrs averages, do you take the highest of those years, or the average of the 2 by adding up the total number of pins based on the games and average for each year and dividing by 2? Eg if you Averaged 200 for 2012 for 36 games, and average 195 for 24 games in 2011 , do you use 200 (which is highest) or (200x36 + 195x24 )/ 60 = 198 (which is a composite of the 2 yrs) or 200 + 195 / 2 = 197 (which is the average of the 2 yrs) ------ Also if you don't have an average from 21 league games in one league or unsanctioned completion, would 21 tournament/ league play games count, even if they are over different tournaments / leagues but all in recorded competition that added to a total of more than 21 games giving you an Average for a year?

It's unclear to me what the actual schedule is for bowling. I haven't found anything more detailed than that it runs from Sunday Aug. 10 through Friday, Aug. 15. I would like to participate in some other sports but I can't plan for that if I don't know the exact schedule for bowling. Is that published anywhere? Are there different shifts I can choose from, or is it completely pre-scheduled (e.g., Division B Team is on Wed at 8:00 am, Division C Singles is on Thursday at noon, or whatever)?

Thank you for the question Mike! The Bowling tournament shall be governed and conducted under the rules of the sanctioning body, United States Bowling Congress. The link to their site is www.bowl.com/. The event is $90 and all other details are on our website www.gg9cle.com/participate/sports/bowling. See you at the Games!

Would like to see if there is any update after the above question from Brian a few weeks ago regarding the schedule. I would like to register for the social bowling but need to be sure it doesn't clash with other events. Thanks for your help!

It's been several weeks. Any updates on the schedule for bowling? I'm trying to plan other activities with athletes from other sports. They all seem to have their dates nailed down already.

I have a question about the bowling schedule. I notice there are evening sessions starting at 7pm on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
I thought the goal at the Gay Games was not to have sporting events in the evening, with the exception of the big Physique finals. That way, people have time to attend cultural and other events. I play in Team Band and there are rehearsals scheduled for Sunday and Monday nights in preparation for a big concert on Tuesday night. Of course, those are the only 3 nights when evening bowling sessions are scheduled.
Can anything be done about this scheduling? Why are there two hour gaps of no bowling between the sessions on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday? Can't the squads bowl back to back without those two-hour gaps? That would really help this situation.

David: Thank for the question and the delay. We followed up with the bowling sports director and his response is below.
"We will be using the end of season average (i.e. as at May 1st, 2014) for bowlers who have a current average.
If you do not have a 21-game average as at May 1st, 2014 then we can use your end of season average for 2012/2013 if it is for at least 21 games. If you have a tournament average of 21 games or more which is higher that your league average then we would use the higher of the 2 averages."
I hope this helps if you have additional questions please let us know.
Thanks
